Compute Exchange

Real-time market pricing, supply and demand, and price history for compute workloads

The Compute Exchange shows real-time market pricing for all Cargos on the Archipelag.io network. It’s a public page — no account required.

Overview

The exchange gives both Consumers and Islands transparency into market dynamics:

• Market Rate — the average clearing price at which jobs are being matched
• Avg Ask — what Islands are charging (provider side)
• Avg Bid — what Consumers are willing to pay (demand side)
• Spread — the gap between ask and bid, indicating market liquidity

At the top of the page, six stat cards summarize the current state for the selected Cargo:

Price chart

An interactive line chart shows price history over configurable time windows:

The chart displays three datasets:

• Market Rate (solid teal line) — actual clearing prices
• Avg Ask (dashed amber line) — provider asking prices
• Avg Bid (dashed blue line) — consumer bid prices

Chart interaction

Hover over the chart to see exact values:

• A vertical crosshair appears at the hovered data point
• Colored dots highlight each dataset’s value
• A tooltip shows the exact timestamp and prices to 4 decimal places

Table view

Below the chart, click “View price data as table” to expand a scrollable table showing the last 20 snapshots with columns for Time, Market Rate, Avg Ask, Avg Bid, and Spread. This is useful for exact comparisons and is accessible to screen readers.

Ask distribution

The left panel shows a horizontal bar chart of provider asking prices grouped by price range. This gives you a sense of where most Islands are pricing their compute.

All Workloads table

The right panel shows a summary table of all Cargos on the exchange. Click any row to switch the chart and stats to that Cargo. The currently selected row is highlighted.

Selecting a Cargo

Choose a Cargo to analyze in three ways:

• Click a row in the All Workloads table
• Click a Cargo name in the sidebar (desktop)
• Navigate directly to /exchange/:slug (e.g., /exchange/llm-chat)

Auto-refresh

The exchange data refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. Market rate snapshots are computed every 5 minutes by a background worker.
